1 May 2021 at the INS: Workers’ health at the heart of the General Management’s concerns

The report of the General Management’s actions in favor of employees was presented on the occasion of the 135th edition of International Labor Day, this Saturday, May 1, 2021.

The Covid-19 pandemic has dealt a severe blow to the world of work since the end of 2019. Over the past year, several companies have been forced to file for bankruptcy, causing unexpected unemployment for thousands of workers. At the National Institute of Statistics, most of the work has remained safe, according to the Director General of the INS, Joseph Tedou, speakingon May 1 , 2021 to his colleagues. A few cases of Covid-19 have been identified and treated at the Institute by health personnel. The premises were regularly disinfected and working conditions preserved. The new working environment in which we are deployed is a reason for satisfaction of the Institute’s staff, who, through their staff delegate, expressed their gratitude to the Head of State and the Prime Minister, Head of Government.

The Director General also announced that the regional agencies will benefit from the same comfort at work in the years to come. Regarding the payment of family allowances, the process of which is slowed down at the level of the NSIF, the Director General of the INS instructed the establishment of a joint INS/CNSP commission to relaunch the payment of these rights to INS workers.

In application of the barrier measures, staff have been asked to continue to wear masks, to keep physical distancing and to wash their hands regularly. The challenges facing the INS in the coming years require that all staff be in good health.
