The testimony of Josiane, a 37-year-old woman and mother of seven, moved the audience during the celebration of this 29th World Population Day. Lacking financial means, but unable to control her fertility, she found herself the mother of several children in a short time, the spacing of births being, in some cases, less than a year. She was therefore knowingly promoting family planning, which, by her own admission, saved her life. It is under the theme of family planning as a human right that this day of celebration was placed. A theme that is not foreign to the corridors of the National Institute of Statistics where a large amount of documentation on demographic statistics is regularly produced.
