As the Women’s March was cancelled this year, the women of the INS met around the Management to share a meal in a moderate atmosphere.
The effervescence usually observed at the celebration of International Women’s Day did not resist the government instructions concerning the respect of barrier measures following the Covid-19 pandemic. At the National Institute of Statistics, the General Management was clear: no dance demonstration during the celebration of this Day. Thus, the rules of distancing, hand disinfection with hydroalcoholic gel and wearing a mask were respected during the meeting. Mrs. Niekou Rosalie, gender focal point at the INS, has ensured this. In her speech on the state of women’s leadership at the Institute, she thanked the General Management for the efforts made to appoint women from the INS to high positions of responsibility. To date, women hold positions as heads of regional agencies; Head of Division, Head of Cells. Similarly, they are leading major investigative operations with budgets in the billions. Discrimination based on sex is therefore not a reality at the INS. Sensitive to this mark of recognition, the Director General does not intend to stop there. The appointment of more women will certainly follow.
In an effort to celebrate IWD 2021 in a healthy way of body and mind, the women of the INS organized educational talks and fitness sessions during the week dedicated to it.
Although sober, IWD 2021 at the INS was very convivial.
