Because of its central role in helping to develop public policies and make political decisions, the INS has undertaken to place the quest for performance at the heart of all its actions. It is in this sense that the theme of the annual meeting of its central and decentralised services focused on the issues and challenges of improving performance. One of the major challenges facing the institution in a context of budgetary restrictions, according to the Director General, Joseph TEDOU, “is to continue the production of quality statistical data while respecting the dissemination schedule, to honor the commitments that our country has made within the framework of its various programs with its partners, to make available to the International Monetary Fund and other partners, information to measure the quality of the results, which we obtain in the implementation of the State’s economic and financial program, but also other programs such as the DSCE, the three-year emergency plan for the acceleration of growth, the special youth plan.”

The improvement in performance was examined from several perspectives, namely: the collection of household final consumer prices; governance and capacity building of regional study officers. The anchor point of the exchanges that punctuated this work was to improve the professional performance of INS staff in a context marked by security crises that have a negative impact on growth.
