Honorary distinctions: the Director General of the INS and two of his collaborators in the spotlight

As part of the annual conference of central and decentralized services of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), three senior executives of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) received honorary distinctions on behalf of the President of the Republic.

Among the nine recipients, Mr. Joseph TEDOU, Director General of the INS, particularly distinguished himself by acceding to the prestigious Dignity of the Order of Valor, one of the highest national distinctions. This unanimous recognition of his leadership has drawn a wave of praise from the highest authorities.

The Minister of the Economy, in presenting him with this distinction, did not hesitate to underline the “amply deserved” nature of this award. The Minister of Finance, representing the financial supervision of the INS, as well as the Minister Delegate to MINEPAT in charge of Planning, Paul Tassong, welcomed the significant contribution of the INS to the decision-making process under the leadership of Mr. TEDOU.

The Minister of Public Works, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the INS, made a point of personally congratulating the Director General for his “enlightened management” of the institution, despite a busy agenda, while thanking the President of the Republic, Grand Master of the National Orders, for this recognition.

Two other INS executives were also honored: Mr. FOBASSO Jean, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Mrs. FOMO Marie Antoinette, Head of the Cartography, Environmental Statistics and Climate Change Division.

The Wine of Honor that followed the ceremony brought together a prestigious assembly, including senior officials of MINEPAT, the Directors of the INS, as well as representatives of the World Bank, a strategic partner in the HISWACA project recently financed to the tune of 63 billion CFA francs.

This exceptional recognition of the excellence of the work accomplished by the INS marks an important milestone in the history of the institution. As the Director General so aptly emphasized during his acceptance speech: “This distinction is not an end in itself, but rather an encouragement to redouble efforts to raise the standards of national statistics for the development of Cameroon.”
