Governance: The NSI holds the work of the review session of its Board of Directors

Minister NGANOU DJOUMESSI Emmanuel chaired two sessions of the said body on June 08, 2023 at the headquarters building of the INS, one of which was ordinary and the other extraordinary.

Punctual as usual, it was at 0900 sharp that the President of the Board of Directors of the INS opened the37th ordinary session. The highlight of the work of this session was the examination of the assessment of the activities of the INS for the 2022 financial year. In this regard, the Director General of the INS, Joseph TEDOU and the heads of its attached financial services, the Specialized Financial Controller, Étienne NGOUN, and the Accounting Officer, Éric TCHIDJO, took the floor in turn to present to the Directors, respectively, the Performance Report, the Budget Execution and Control Report and the Management Account for the financial year ended December 31, 2022. The presentations of the three officials ended with the transmission to the members of the Council of two key documents proving the consistency of the figures presented by the Authorizing Officer and the Accounting Officer on the one hand, and between those of the Accounting Officer and the Paymaster on the other hand. These are the Certificate of Concordance and the Agreement Statement.

In view of these two documents, the members of the Board were pleased with the frank and transparent collaboration between the financial services attached to the Institute and the General Management. And it is no surprise that the Council adopted the Resolution approving the accounts of the INS for the 2022 financial year.

In terms of miscellaneous matters, the General Management informed the Council of the implementation of new activities at the INS such as the signing on June 6, 2023 of a memorandum of understanding with the National Coordinator of the Adaptive Social Safety Nets and Financial Inclusion project for the implementation of cycle 6 of this project, and the imminent visit of a contingent of senior officers from the Yaoundé War College, under the theme of the role of statistics in the strategic management of institutions. The Council expressed its satisfaction with this news and encouraged the General Directorate to maintain close relations with the Defence, Security and Law Enforcement Forces in the context of its field activities.

At 11:00 a.m. sharp, two hours later, the37th ordinary session entered the station to give way to the19th extraordinary session which was devoted to two main points, namely, the adoption of the INS Corrective Performance Project for the 2023 financial year and the allocation of on-call bonuses to some of the Institute’s staff. After the adoption of these two resolutions, which were not the subject of any particular debate, the PCA reiterated to the General Management its appreciation for the quality of the work organized. At 12 p.m., the meeting was adjourned with a shared feeling of work accomplished.
