The INS headquarters building: A flagship of the Head of State’s “Great Achievements” program

35 meters high in splendor, 47 meters wide in majesty, the headquarters building of the National Institute of Statistics, like a bird in flight, seen from the sky, overlooks the Mingoa Valley. A mythical valley that shelters the beginnings of the future face of the city of Yaoundé.

The INS headquarters building is one of the prides of the Great Achievements Program of the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya. Located on 3980 m² with a footprint of 1070 m², the building has 09 levels including two basements and 7 upper levels served by two elevator shafts and 3 staircase units located on the ground floor. The two basements include an infirmary, a refectory, a gym and 22 parking spaces respectively. The upper floors include office space, two meeting rooms.

The structure is not simply an artistic pile of rubble made of reinforced concrete. The appearance of the building has a meaning and its infrastructure is respectful of environmental standards and human rights. The technical and financial support of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, the technical supervision of the INS, as well as that of the Ministry of Finance, has made it possible to maintain this advantage.

To complete this ambitious project, it was necessary to convene a multidimensional expertise made up exclusively of Cameroonian grey matter, gathered within a dynamic interministerial committee. It is not only the interministerial monitoring committee that identified 100% Cameroonian expertise. It is practically the entire building that can be certified 100% made by Cameroonians if the professionals of ANOR were to pass by. Indeed, the project management as well as the control firm, the construction company and the site workers were Cameroonians. The supply of equipment was no exception to the rule dear to the General Management. Made in Cameroon was used at all stages of the project. And it is only by constraint that solutions from elsewhere have been summoned. And for this, the Board of Directors has kept an eye on the situation.

If the history of the National Institute of Statistics had to be summed up in one title, this title would certainly be in the shadows. For this performance-boosting light, the staff, more than determined, says Thank you.
