The kick-off workshop of the Project to Strengthen the Capacity of Countries in the Use of Mobile Technologies for the Collection of Statistical Data in Cameroon was held from 24 to 26 June 2015 at the Jouvence 2000 Hotel in Yaoundé. This is a project supported by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) that aims to design a mobile data collection application for consumer and producer prices of agricultural, livestock and fisheries products. In Cameroon, this project is being implemented by the National Institute of Statistics with the technical support of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique (ENSP). The main objective of this workshop to launch the project in Cameroon was to bring together all the national partners (National Institute of Statistics (INS), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER), Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA), the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique (ENSP), Subregional Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (ISSEA)) in order to explain their roles in the project and to agree on the modalities of work.
The main results obtained at the end of this workshop are:
- the situational analysis document developed and validated;
- the draft Letter of Agreement between the INS and the ENSP available;
- clarified roles and expectations of stakeholders;
- validated technical documents;
- the selected collection sites;
- Version 0 of the app available
- the updated timetable available;
