As part of the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in 2015, Cameroon has committed to achieving “
Universal coverage of populations with long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs)
“, in order to significantly reduce morbidity and mortality due to malaria. To this end, 8,026,755 LLINs were distributed throughout the country during the free distribution campaign conducted in 2011, including 1,591,785 LLINs in the Centre Region.
Pending a national evaluation of this distribution, UNICEF wanted to know quickly the coverage rate and the way in which the LLINs distributed in the Department of Mfoundi and in the Soa Health District, localities where it has supported the Government with a donation of mosquito nets.
The objective of this survey is therefore to determine the level of coverage of the distribution and the mode of use of LLINs in the six health districts of Mfoundi and Soa. This study will also make it possible to identify the future prospects of the project for the fight against malaria in Cameroon.
Data collection began on December 28, 2012. The first results will be available at the end of February 2013.
