Presentation of the institute

The INS is a public administrative institution established by Presidential Decree No. 2001/100 of 20 April 2001. It is placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry in charge of statistics. It has a legal personality and financial autonomy. Its headquarters are in Yaoundé, the political capital of Cameroon.

The Directorate of the National Institute of Statistics is placed under the authority of a Director General, assisted by a Deputy.

The General Management comprises:

  • Services Reporting to the Director General;
  • Central Services;
  • External Services;

  • the Inspection of Services;
  • the Legal Unit;
  • the Communication and Public Relations Unit;
  • the Translation and Interpreting Unit;
  • the Reception, Mail and Liaison Service;
  • Executive Assistants.

  • the Department of Demographic and Social Statistics;
  • the Department of Business Statistics;
  • the Department of Economic Syntheses;
  • the Department of Statistical Coordination, Cooperation and Research;
  • the Department of Computer Science;
  • the Directorate of Administrative and Financial Affairs.
