With the adoption of a new National Development Strategy for the period 2020-2030, the Government of Cameroon has committed to continue the implementation of the Beijing Platform, more than two decades after its adoption. Gender equality and women’s empowerment considerations remain a constant priority for the Government and are a cross-cutting issue that must be taken into account in development policies, programmes and projects at both the national and local levels. In order to provide the various development actors with elements to monitor and measure the progress made to ensure gender equality and equity, the Ministry for the Promotion of Women and the Family, in collaboration with the National Institute of Statistics, with the technical and financial support of the World Bank, has developed this booklet entitled: “Women and Men, Girls and Boys in Cameroon”. This statistical overview is intended to highlight some of the “gendered” data produced by the various sectoral administrations and to facilitate the identification of any differences in the situation that exist between men and women in Cameroon.
