Industrial producer prices rise in 2022
In 2022, the level of industrial producer prices in Cameroon, captured by the Industrial Production (IPPI) increased by 13.3%. It should be noted that this is the the largest increase recorded by this indicator developed in Cameroon in 2017. In the In the same vein, there was a significant increase in the final consumer prices of households by 6.3% in 2022. So companies have not fully deferred price increases to the
production for final consumption, but cushioned the blow suffered, either through the measures taken
by the Government in the form of subsidies or by reducing their margins.
This high inflation can be explained by several factors: the post-Covid economic recovery, the
disruptions to value chains on a global scale, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis,
the dependence of the Cameroonian economy on imported raw materials, etc.
