Inflation: Consumer Prices Continue to Rise in July 2026

[rank_math_breadcrumb]

Following a period of relative stability, inflationary pressures are gradually intensifying in Cameroon. In July 2026, household consumer prices increased by 0.6% month-on-month, compared with 0.5% in June.

On a year-on-year basis, inflation reached 3.4%, up from 3.0% in June and 2.7% in May 2026. This development confirms the gradual resurgence of inflationary pressures observed since March.

Over a longer period, however, the overall situation remains under control. The average inflation rate over the past twelve months remained stable at 2.6%, below the 3% community threshold set within the CEMAC zone.

This situation reflects contrasting trends. While the medium-term outlook remains characterised by disinflation, more recent developments point to a gradual increase in inflationary pressures.

This renewed upward trend is primarily driven by food prices, with fresh food products making a particularly significant contribution. Their rising prices continue to exert upward pressure on the cost of living for households.
