This year’s theme for ECA is: “Modernizing National Statistical Systems to Provide Data and Statistics to Support Sustainable Peace and Development in Africa”.
In Cameroon, the activities marking this event are a continuation of the “Statistics Month” which opened on October 20, 2020 with World Statistics Day (WSD).
On November 12, 2020 from 2 p.m., the INS will host a conference-debate on the themes of JAS and JMS, namely “Connecting the world with data we can trust.” This meeting is the ideal pretext to discuss the degree of credibility of Cameroonian official statistics in view of the recent promulgation of the new law on the regulation of statistical activity.
An opening will be made on statistics and decentralization given the context marked by the acceleration of decentralization in Cameroon. Ultimately, the contribution of vital statistics to the achievement of the SDGs will be examined. the recommendations resulting from these exchanges will contribute to the improvement of the National Statistical System.
This year, the celebration of the JAS will be marked by greater solemnity because the National Council of Statistics will hold its work on that day and the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT) will make his statement related to the theme of the Day.
