Department of Business Statistics
Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Department of Business Statistics is responsible for:
- carrying out or participating in the carrying out of censuses and surveys relating to economic activities;
- monitoring the demography of companies, in particular through the development of the register of companies and establishments;
- supervising the collection of statistical and tax declarations in conjunction with the Directorate General of Taxes;
- the establishment and management of the central company balance sheets;
- the preparation of the economic and financial study of companies;
- the training and retraining of professionals and other specialists in accounting;
- the resolution of conflicts with regard to the application of the chart of accounts;
- the production of short-term indicators concerning the economic units of the market;
- the elaboration of economic activity indices;
- the production of the annual business survey report;
- the development of structural indicators on the environment, innovation, development, performance and corporate governance;
- the compilation of statistics on the labour force of economic units in the labour market on the one hand, and outside the labour market on the other;
- monitoring the implementation of international standards for the compilation of statistics on economic activities;
- the implementation of alternative methodologies for the identification and survey of corporations, quasi-corporations and unincorporated family businesses in the market, in collaboration with the administrations and institutions concerned;
- the compilation of sectoral statistics in its field of competence.
