The National Institute of Statistics of Cameroon joined the rest of the world in celebrating the third edition of World Statistics Day on October 20, 2020 on the theme: ” Connecting the world with data we can trust “. This theme highlights the need to ensure trust in data, the importance of quality data, innovation and recalls the importance and public interest of national statistical systems.
The celebration of World Statistics Day 2020 is a global collaboration, organized under the leadership of the United Nations Statistical Commission.
The Statistics Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs is coordinating the global campaign for the Day and providing countries and other partners with resources and tools to raise awareness.
This Day was established in 2010 by the Secretary-General of the United Nations and is celebrated every five years.
In Cameroon, the WSD marks the beginning of the monthly payment called “the Month of Statistics” which ends on November 18 with the celebration of the African Statistics Day.
