CAMPHIA 2024: INS and CBCHB renew their partnership

This was during the signing ceremony of an agreement held on June 04, 2024 at the headquarters building of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) as part of the implementation of the second phase of the said project.

The Cameroon Population Based HIV Impact Assessment (CAMPHIA) is a survey to assess the impact of HIV on the Cameroonian population, implemented by the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Board (CBCHB) in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health of Cameroon (MINSANTE) and operationalized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). After the first phase of the survey was carried out from July 2017 to February 2018, the second phase of the survey will run for nine months, including the period from April to December 2024.

It is in this context that the conference room of the INS headquarters building hosted, on Tuesday, June 04, 2024, the signing ceremony of the Agreement for the implementation of the second phase of the CAMPHIA project between the CBCHB and the INS. During this ceremony, the two stakeholders were represented respectively by the Country Director of the CAMPHIA Cameroon 2024 Project, Prof. Pius TIH MUFFIH and the Director General of the National Institute of Statistics, Mr. Joseph TEDOU. After the usual courtesies, the participants were given the opportunity to revisit the main objective of the second phase of this project, the budget of which amounts to 1,654,656,250 FCFA.

The data collection operation will take place throughout the national territory. The survey carried out by the INS will involve 400 temporary agents and about 50 permanent agents. A sample of 15,360 households will be visited and approximately 26,000 HIV tests will be conducted on the population aged 15 years and older.
