EMIS Operationalization: New IT Hardware for the NSI

On Tuesday, June 04, 2024, the General Coordinator of the Support Project for the Reform of Education in Cameroon (PAREC), Mr. Owotsogo Onguene Ambroise officially handed over a large batch of computer equipment to the Director General of the National Institute of Statistics (INS). This initiative is an extension of the agreement signed in September 2022 between UNESCO and the Government of Cameroon, aimed at operationalizing the integrated sectoral platform of the Education Management Information System (EMIS).

With a view to strengthening the capacities of the National Institute of Statistics in the production of statistical data on education, the Support Program for the Reform of Education in Cameroon, under the aegis of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), solemnly handed over a batch of computer equipment to the INS on Tuesday, June 04, 2024.

During this ceremony, Mrs. ELOBO Elisabeth, Technical Secretary of the Steering Committee of the Strategy of the Education and Training Sector underlined the importance of this material which will support the INS in the production of reliable and disaggregated statistics on education. The Director General of the INS, Mr. Joseph TEDOU, expressed his gratitude to PAREC and UNESCO for their constant support and this fruitful partnership.

The computer equipment handed over to the INS includes a high-capacity server, two laptops, three desktop computers, a multifunction printer, a wireless video projector, a photocopier, three hard disks, a server anti-virus license and a SQL-server DBMS license.

In perspective, PAREC also plans to finalize as soon as possible the provision of an internet line dedicated to EMIS. This initiative will further improve the fluidity and accessibility of the platform, for the benefit of SNIS stakeholders and users of statistical products.
