Management of Open Data/PRND platforms The INS organizes a capacity building workshop for contributors

The work was opened by the Director General of the INS, Mr. Joseph TEDOU, on Monday, November 08, 2021 at the INS meeting room. Through this workshop, which will take place for 05 days, the INS intends to update itself in the data production process.

Following the establishment of the Open Data platforms and the National Data Summary Page (PRND), Cameroon has taken a big step towards access to the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS). The data disseminated on the PNRD come from three Open Data platforms, including that of the INS, the Ministry of Finance (MINFI) and the Bank of Central African States (BEAC). These should be regularly updated by contributors and focal points. It is with this in mind that the capacity building workshop for contributors and focal points involved in the process of managing and updating the Open Data platform and the PRND is being held.

The general objective of this meeting is to strengthen the capacities of participants (users, contributors and focal points), involved in the implementation of the GDDS-a, in the use and updating of the PNRD and the platforms of their respective administrations. In particular the INS, the MINFI and the BEAC; with the most recent data and metadata available from the Enhanced General Data Dissemination System (GDDS-a).

After a detailed presentation of the implementation of the GDDS-a in Cameroon and the Open Data platform of the INS by Mr. Carlos LACGNI, Research Officer of the IT Department (DIN); Dr. Louis NGUENANG, focal point of the GDDS-a, continued with that of the MINFI Open Data platform.

Afterwards, the practical work allowed the speakers to teach the participants (contributors and focal points) how to create an account, log in, load Open Data data, enter it or update it.

At the end of the workshop, the focal points, contributors and users of the Open Data platforms and the PNRD should be better equipped and more capable of disseminating data and metadata.
