The main objective of the survey is to determine the vaccination coverage rate of meningitis during the vaccination campaign conducted from December 3 to 12 in the Adamawa and North-West regions.
More specifically, this survey will make it possible to measure a number of indicators, including:
- vaccination coverage against meningitis of populations aged 1 to 29 years according to the age groups 12-59 months, 5-14 years, 15-29 years, and according to whether or not they have a vaccination card or record;
- the reasons for non-vaccination reported by the target populations;
- the proportion of target persons informed of the holding of this campaign before vaccination and the channel through which they were informed;
- the proportion of target people who are aware of the role of meningitis vaccination;
- the proportion of people who know the disease they are vaccinated against;
- the proportion of people who have experienced an AEFI (a health condition thought to be related to the vaccine received);
- the proportion of people who developed an AEFI and were cared for.
- The target population of the survey is people aged 1 to 29 from the administrative regions of Adamawa and North-West.
The selected sample is composed of 1800 households, i.e. 900 for each region concerned. The sample was drawn from a three-stage draw. In the first degree, the ZDs were drawn, in the second degree, the households to be surveyed, then the targets (people aged 1 to 29) in the third degree.
Data collection began on December 19, 2012. The first results will be available in the first week of February 2013.
