Rise in industrial producer prices
With reference to the third quarter of 2020, industrial activity overall recorded an increase in producer prices of 5.8% in the third quarter of 2021. This overall price increase was strongly influenced by higher prices in the paper and paperboard industries (+16.7%), the metal and metal products (+10.9%) and the machinery and equipment industries (+9.4%). It also seems to be correlated with the rise in commodity prices experienced at the global level for the main commodities. Nevertheless, there were lower prices in the petroleum refining and coking industries (-8.1%) and the chemical pharmaceutical and plastics industries (-4.7%).
