Food prices rise at the same pace as last month

In May 2021 and compared to last month, the Household Final Consumer Price Index (CPI) rebounded slightly (+0.1% after -0.1% in April 2021), in line with the increase in the prices of “housing, water, gas, electricity and other fuels” (+0.4% after -1.1% last month), restaurants and hotels (+0.5% after +0.3% last month) and to a lesser extent food products (+0.1% as last month).

Compared to the same period in 2020, the general price level increased by 1.5% after +1.1% the previous month and +2.3% a year ago. This increase is mainly due to the increase in the prices of food products (+3.0% after +3.7% last month), restaurants and hotels (+2.1% after +1.6% last month) as well as clothing and footwear (+2.0% after +1.5% last month).
