In December 2020 and compared to last month, the Household Final Consumer Price Index increased by 0.1% after -0.1% the previous month. This price increase is largely the result of the rebound in the prices of housing, water, gas, electricity and other fuels (+0.4% after -0.5% the previous month), clothing and footwear (+0.4% after stability last month) as well as food products (+0.1% after -0.3% the previous month). The increase in food prices was mainly due to the increase in the prices of oils and fats (+4.5% after +0.9% in the previous month), fish and seafood (+2.4% after +3.3% in the previous month), fruit (+0.9% after +3.5% in the previous month), bread and cereals (+0.8% after +0.9% in the previous month), milk, cheese and eggs (+0.8% after +0.9% in the previous month), and meat (+0.2% after -0.1% the previous month). On the other hand, the prices of vegetables (-2.6% after -2.5% in the previous month) and those of “sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery” (-0.2% after +0.5% in the previous month) decreased.
