Quarterly National Accounts (4th quarter 2020)

The fourth quarter of 2020 was marked by a slight improvement in economic activity, reflected in GDP growth of 0.8% compared to the same quarter in 2019.
On the supply side, all three sectors of activity show positive growth, although that of the secondary sector (3.6%) is higher than that of the primary (0.7%) and tertiary (0.4%) sectors. Thus, the secondary sector contributed the most to GDP growth this quarter by 0.9 points while the primary and tertiary sectors made a contribution of 0.1 point and 0.2 point respectively. The increase observed in the primary sector is explained by the performance of activities in subsistence agriculture (3.2%), livestock, hunting and fishing (3.7%), and forestry (4.7%). The growth of the sector was therefore considerably slowed down by the poor performance of industrial and export agriculture activities (-5.5%).
