The financing of the SNDS30 in question in Yaoundé

This was during a workshop of statistical data producers organized jointly by the National Institute of Statistics and the PARIS21 consortium, on April 6, 2022 in Yaoundé and chaired by the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey.

The National Strategy for the Development of Statistics is the reference document for supporting the implementation of Cameroon’s National Development Strategy for 2030 in the field of statistics for the monitoring and evaluation of public policies in Cameroon. The third generation of this strategy adopted in 2021 is presented in several components including the five-year implementation action plan, the monitoring and evaluation plan and the financing plan. The workshop held at the La Falaise Hotel in Yaoundé on April 6, 2022 focused on the implementation plan of the strategy, the amount of which is about 63 billion CFA francs between 2021 and 2025 with an annual average of 12 billion CFA francs. This envelope is supposed to finance the three axes of the SNDS30, namely, the coordination and management of the National Statistical Information System (SNIS), the improvement of the coverage of statistical information and the improvement of the management of the statistical ecosystem. The objective of the meeting between the producers of the SNIS’s statistical data and the technical and financial partners was to launch a call for contributions to the financing of this strategy from the partners of the Cameroonian Government. Thus, several TFPs, requesting statistical data, took part in the work, in particular, the World Bank, and other agencies of the United Nations system. The Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development invited them to express their intentions for financial support during this work. In the end, the TFPs are expected to make a financial contribution of 10 billion CFA francs.
