The INS goes into fitness

The inaugural sports session was held on May 10, 2022 at the Institute’s newly equipped fitness center.

About twenty staff, led by the Director General of the INS himself, took part in the first sports session, motivated to rust the joints and determined to fight with stress and fatigue. From 2 p.m., it was necessary to get in condition to undergo a health check beforehand in the office of the doctor of the Institute, adjoining the room, in order to determine that there were no subjects at risk whose physical efforts could deteriorate the state of health. At the end of this stage, sports enthusiasts and amateurs, all together, joined the vast fitness center which covers more than 150m2 and whose access is free and strictly reserved for employees of the Institute. It has about ten weight training machines (the thigh press, the bench press, the pec-deck, the abs bench, etc.) and cardio-training machines (elliptical bike, bicycles, treadmills, etc.) whose regular use should allow INS workers to increase their productivity without wearing out their health. In addition to these electrical and mechanical devices, the INS has acquired a large quantity of dumbbells, yoga balls, gym mats and sticks, step benches, wave rope, etc. The room is equipped with two fully equipped changing rooms, with a total capacity of about 30 people. Some time before the introductory speech of Joseph Tedou, Director General of the INS, everyone worked to exercise their muscles to make extra efforts on the various cardio-training machines. When the DG INS spoke at 4 p.m., it was to encourage his staff to practice sport regularly and to urge them to keep the devices that are made available to them in good condition. In the same vein, the DG announced the presence of an instructor, made available to staff to teach them the right gestures to take and the exercises to perform for a good sports session. Immediately after his intervention, the coach initiated a fitness session of an hour and a half, in a festive atmosphere thanks to the sounds of the best musical hits of Cameroon. Physical exercises on the floor and standing to strengthen the muscles of the body and improve breathing followed one another. At the end of the meeting, it was a happy and reinvigorated staff who thanked the General Management for the striking improvement in working conditions. The appointment was made on Thursday, May 12 for the second session of the week.
