Thus recording a decrease of 49 billion CFA francs, or 3.3% compared to 2021. The increase in export earnings of 1,089 billion CFA francs (45%) is greater than the increase in import expenditure of 1,040 billion CFA francs (27%), which reduces the trade balance deficit Heavy dependence on crude oil and natural gas exports Excluding crude oil, the trade balance is becoming increasingly negative:  the deficit amounts to 2,943 billion CFA francs, an aggravation of 496 billion CFA francs (20%) compared to 2021.
