{"id":17604,"date":"2023-09-06T06:35:39","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T05:35:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/statistique\/quarterly-national-accounts-1st-quarter-2023\/"},"modified":"2023-09-06T06:35:39","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T05:35:39","slug":"quarterly-national-accounts-1st-quarter-2023","status":"publish","type":"statistique","link":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/statistique\/quarterly-national-accounts-1st-quarter-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Quarterly National Accounts (1st quarter 2023)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"page24R_mcid0\" class=\"markedContent\"><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">first quarter of 2023<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">was marked by<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">sustained<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">pace<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of economic activity, reflected in <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">GDP growth of<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">3.2<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">% compared<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">to the same quarter of 2022<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>.<\/strong> <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"page24R_mcid1\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">On the supply side<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, this development is the result of the good momentum of the secondary and tertiary sectors, which each recorded a <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">sustained growth rate during the quarter, The primary sector (0.7%) marked a significant slowdown in <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">its pace of activity and<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">contributes very little (0.1 point) to GDP growth. The secondary sector (3.5%)   <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">contributed 0.8 percentage points to GDP growth for the quarter, while the tertiary sector (3.7 percent) remained the engine of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">economic growth, with a contribution of 1.9 percentage points<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page24R_mcid2\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">.  <\/span><\/span><span id=\"page24R_mcid3\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page24R_mcid4\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The weak performance of the primary sector is due to the 6.2% drop<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">in activity in the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">export<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">agriculture sector <\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and the slowdown in forestry activities (0.5% from 2.5%). However <\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Activity<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">improved <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">in the branches<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of food farming<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2.6% after -0.1%) and<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">livestock, hunting and fishing<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(6.1% after <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">5.2%), each making a positive contribution to growth of 0.1 point and 0.2 point respectively. <\/span> <\/span><span id=\"page24R_mcid5\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">In the secondary sector, the growth momentum observed is driven by the good performance of<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">activity in all <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">branches, Activities in this sector are dominated by the agri-food industries and the construction and public works <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">sectors, which contribute 0.3 points and 0.4 points respectively to the growth of the sector.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"> <\/span><\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">extractive industries (1.9% after 5.1%) slowed down this quarter. All other branches of secondary education, although for the   <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">most of the sluggish industries, apart from other manufacturing industries that are recovering from the previous quarter&#8217;s decline <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, performed well in the quarter. <\/span> <\/span><span id=\"page24R_mcid6\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The tertiary sector remains the engine of growth during this quarter, All branches of the sector contributed to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">this good performance by making positive contributions to growth although the trade and repair branch <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2.6% after 4.1%) and the transport branch (2.5% after 8.4%) slowed down, In addition, the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">non-market services branch of the Adm<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Public Administration, with 0.4 percentage points, contributed the most to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">GDP growth this quarter.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","format":[626],"meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"annee":[],"region":[],"domaines":[],"class_list":["post-17604","statistique","type-statistique","status-publish","hentry","format-data"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/statistique\/17604","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/statistique"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/statistique"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/statistique\/17604\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=17604"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"annee","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/annee?post=17604"},{"taxonomy":"region","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/region?post=17604"},{"taxonomy":"format","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/format?post=17604"},{"taxonomy":"domaine","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ins-cameroun.cm\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/domaines?post=17604"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
