The Regional Offices<\/span> of the<\/span> NIS<\/span>, located in the ten region<\/span>s of Cameroon, produce on an annual basis<\/span>, <\/span>a regional statistical yearbook. The main objec<\/span>tive of this book is to bring together<\/span> all the statistical <\/span>productions of se<\/span>ctoral administrations, regional and local authorities<\/span>, parapublic and private <\/span>companies in the region in a single document. It provides disaggregated indicators at municipal level <\/span>in<\/span> various fields in order to inform<\/span> users<\/span> in their strategic choices. <\/span><\/span><\/span>This approach is part of the general framework of the National Strategy for the<\/span> Development of <\/span>Statistics (NSDS<\/span>) whose major objective is t<\/span>o provide Cameroon with an effective<\/span> National Stat<\/span>istical <\/span>Information System (<\/span>NIS<\/span>S<\/span>) to meet<\/span> the ne<\/span>eds<\/span> of the user community. The NSDS is coordinated by the <\/span>National Institute of Statistics at<\/span> the<\/span> national le<\/span>vel and by the Regional Offices of the NIS<\/span> at<\/span> the<\/span> regional <\/span>level.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
The data were<\/span> collected from the vari<\/span>ous structures with<\/span> a guide and<\/span> supplemented by the scrutiny<\/span> of <\/span>any other official document available.<\/span> A clearance was subsequently conducted<\/span> to ensure the qual<\/span>ity of <\/span>the information. Data were also collected<\/span> from large national surveys disaggregated at th<\/span>e local level <\/span>where possible. <\/span><\/span><\/span>The regional statistical y<\/span>earbook of the Littoral is comprised of 23 chapters with<\/span> 03 main parts:<\/span> Territory <\/span>and Climatology;<\/span> Population and Social Affairs<\/span>;<\/span> Economic activities<\/span>. The first part situates the region in its <\/span>physica<\/span>l context and describes its institutional, administrative and political organization. The second <\/span>part highlights information on socio<\/span>–<\/span>demographic characteristics<\/span>. Finally, the third part reports on<\/span> the <\/span>situation of the economy in all areas. <\/span><\/span><\/span>The National In<\/span>stitute of Statistics thanks the various structures that regularly contribute to the <\/span>realization of this document by providing the information.
