137th International Labour Day: NSI promotes resilience and decent work

The staff of the National Institute of Statistics took part in the great parade of workers on Monday, May 1 , 2023, for the improvement of their living conditions.

“Resilience and decent work: acting together in the world of work to improve living conditions and social inclusion” is the theme on which the 137th edition of the International Labour Day (FIT) was celebrated in Cameroonon May 1, 2023. After the truce observed during the COVID-19 period, the workers of the National Institute of Statistics resumed the parade at the Boulevard du 20 mai. Proudly wearing their appropriate outfits, they pounded the pavement to the rhythm of the brass bands, under the loud ovations of the public in general and the Director General of the INS, Joseph TEDOU in particular.

After the parade, the INS workers met in a friendly atmosphere in the afternoon in the Hall of the Institute’s headquarters building, to take part in the cocktail offered by the General Management. After the performance of the National Anthem, the Staff Delegate recalled in his speech the risks related to work accidents, the theme of his presentation-debate organized as a prelude to the FIT and invited the staff to be more responsible. The Director General of the INS, congratulating the staff who took part in the parade, invited the INS workers to work harder and to preserve the architectural jewel that is the INS headquarters building.

This phase of rejoicing was a moment of communion between colleagues, rich in sounds and colors with an atmosphere embellished by the performance of the Cameroonian musician Majoie AYI.
