Department of Demographic and Social Statistics
Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Department of Demographic and Social Statistics is responsible for:
- the carrying out or participation in the conduct of censuses and surveys within its competence;
- the preparation of data collection operations (censuses, surveys) in collaboration with the competent technical services;
- the execution of data collection operations in collaboration with the Regional Agencies;
- coordinating the production of statistics on social sectors, including health, education and gender, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
- the development of the nation’s Social Dashboard;
- the development of the map of living conditions in Cameroon;
- the preparation of thematic studies on poverty;
- the preparation of the report on demographic dynamics;
- the preparation of the report on unemployment in Cameroon;
- monitoring households’ perception of governance;
- the production of infra-annual notes on the evolution of inflation;
- the production of study reports on the thematic areas of environment, climate change and sustainable development;
- the implementation of alternative census and household survey methodologies in collaboration with other structures and organizations in charge of population issues;
- the management of sampling frames and the cartographic background of enumeration areas;
- the compilation of sectoral statistics in its field of competence.
It includes:
- the Division of Social Statistics and Inflation Monitoring;
- the Demographic Statistics Division;
- Cartography, Environment Statistics and Climate Change Division
