Department of Demographic and Social Statistics

Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Department of Demographic and Social Statistics is responsible for:

the carrying out or participation in the conduct of censuses and surveys within its competence;
the preparation of data collection operations (censuses, surveys) in collaboration with the competent technical services;
the execution of data collection operations in collaboration with the Regional Agencies;
coordinating the production of statistics on social sectors, including health, education and gender, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
the development of the nation’s Social Dashboard;
the development of the map of living conditions in Cameroon;
the preparation of thematic studies on poverty;
the preparation of the report on demographic dynamics;
the preparation of the report on unemployment in Cameroon;
monitoring households’ perception of governance;
the production of infra-annual notes on the evolution of inflation;
the production of study reports on the thematic areas of environment, climate change and sustainable development;
the implementation of alternative census and household survey methodologies in collaboration with other structures and organizations in charge of population issues;
the management of sampling frames and the cartographic background of enumeration areas;
the compilation of sectoral statistics in its field of competence.
