It was in the presence of the administrative authorities of the city of Yaoundé, the top management of the INS, colleagues and an audience of guests that the happy recipients proudly displayed their medals, this Thursday, November 18, 2021, African Statistics Day.

A total of 26 recipients received honorary distinctions in silver, vermeil and gold, from the hands of the Prefect of Mfoundi, who was assisted by the Deputy Sub-Prefect of Yaoundé, the3rd personal representative of the Sub-Prefect. On this solemn day when the whole of Africa commemorates the 31st Statistics Day, there was no better way to mark this event than this ceremony of awarding the medals of honor of work to the deserving staff of the National Institute of Statistics. It all began around 11 a.m. with the handing over of the bouquet of flowers to the Prefect of Mfoundi and its installation alongside the Director General of the INS. After the performance of the National Anthem, an interlude with traditional Bantu sounds and dances will make a festive atmosphere already warm by the rays of the burning sun of this Thursday morning. It is therefore in this festive atmosphere, enhanced by the elegance of the elected officials of the day that the families, colleagues and guests came to congratulate the families and guests that the Director General of the INS will deliver his welcome speech. His congratulations are addressed to the recipients, while urging them not to sleep on their laurels, but to continue to work hard. To those who were not rewarded this time, they were exhorted to redouble their self-sacrifice at work. After the interlude of the traditional dance group Akomo Mbah, appreciated at its true value by the public, the Prefect of Mfoundi will deliver his speech. The value of work is told to the recipients by the Prefect of Mfoundi through the fables of La Fontaine. He will not stop praising the INS for its headquarters building, an architectural jewel, a gift from the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul Biya and for the quality statistics produced there. He will end his speech by congratulating the football team that played a friendly match of Vivre Ensemble against that of the General Directorate of Taxes. The heart of the event itself, namely the presentation of the medals, takes place with the reading of the names of the recipients by the Head of the Communication and Public Relations Unit. They will come to the esplanade to receive their honorary distinctions. The first to present their breasts to the Prefect to receive their honorary distinctions are the silver medallists, followed by the vermeil medallists and finally the gold medallists. All these valiant laureates of the day are competent workers, experienced in the task and full of experience who are the pride of the INS and their families, as evidenced by the many bouquets of flowers offered. After the overall photo, a wine of honor was offered to the lucky recipients to celebrate this circumstance. There is no doubt that the festivities continued in the cottages.
