CEMAC trade surplus of 95.7 billion CFA francs in 2020, down 9% compared to 2019
In 2020, Cameroon’s trade balance with CEMAC countries is in surplus. This surplus amounts to 95.7 billion CFA francs, thus recording a decrease of 9.5 billion CFA francs (-9.0%) compared to the year 2019. This situation is the result of a decrease in export earnings to other CEMAC countries of 23.2 billion CFA francs (-14.7%) year-on-year. This decline in export revenues was more pronounced than that of import expenditure, which amounted to 13.8 billion CFA francs (-25.9%) compared to 2019. This evolution of foreign trade during the year 2020 is one of the consequences of the measures taken around the world to deal with the Covid19 pandemic, in particular the closure of borders and total or partial confinement.
