In a context of the absence of official vital statistics, this report on civil registration statistics in Cameroon is the result of an active collaboration between the INS, the National Bureau of Civil Status (BUNEC) and the Ministry of Public Health (MINSANTE) with technical and financial support from the Ministry of Public Health and Vital Strategies. It highlights the situation of the registration and production of EC statistics in Cameroon. The main findings relate to the poor coverage of civil status centres, the shortcomings in the collection and reporting of data and the still embryonic nature of the system for declaring causes of death. These findings persist despite the efforts made by the authorities to improve the situation.
