The rise in food prices continues.
In June 2020 and compared to May 2020, the Household Final Consumer Price Index increased by 0.1%, after a decline of 0.2% last month. This increase in prices is mainly the result of the continued increase, albeit at a slower pace, in the prices of food products (+0.3% after +0.8% in the previous month), the rise in the prices of clothing and footwear (+0.4% after -0.4% in the previous month), as well as those of furniture, household goods and routine household maintenance (+0.4% after stability in the previous month). Conversely, the prices of housing, water, gas, electricity and other fuels fell (-0.4% after +0.4% the previous month) and those of transport fell less than the previous month (-0.2% after -3.1% in May).
Compared to the same period in 2019, the general price level increased in June 2020 by 2.1%, after +2.3% last month. This increase is largely due to the increase in the prices of food products (+4.9% after +4.7% in May), transport (+2.7% after +2.9% in May) as well as leisure and culture (+2.3% after +2.7% last month).
On average over the last twelve months, the general price level increased by 2.3% after +2.4% the previous month. The inflation observed this month is largely due to the increase in the prices of food products (+4.6% as last month), miscellaneous goods and services (+3.6% after +3.9% last month), restaurants and hotels (+2.7% after +3.0% the previous month), alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (+4.2% after +4.4% last month), as well as clothing and footwear (+2.7% after +3.1% last month).
