The rise in food prices continues.
In June 2020 and compared to May 2020, the Household Final Consumer Price Index rebounded (+0.1% after -0.2% in May). This price recovery is mainly due to the rise in food prices (+0.6% after +0.9% the previous month). In addition, the increase in the prices of furniture, household items and routine household maintenance increased (+0.3% after +0.2% the previous month). However, the prices of housing, water, gas, electricity and other fuels decreased (-0.4% after stability in the previous month).
Compared to the same period in 2019, the general price level increased by 1.9%, after 2.1% in May 2020. This price increase is largely due to the increase in the prices of food products (+4.8% after +4.7% the previous month), furniture, household goods and routine household maintenance (+1.7% after +1.4% the previous month), as well as leisure and culture (+2.0% after +2.1% the previous month).
On average over the last twelve months, the general price level increased by 2.3%, as in May and April 2020. The inflation observed is largely due to the rise in the prices of food products (+5.0% compared to the previous month), restaurants and hotels (+2.3% after +2.6% last month) as well as leisure and culture (+2.1% after +2.0% the previous month).
