Surveys Panel Surveys of the Assessment of the Socioeconomic Impact of Covid-19 on the Living Conditions of Households in Cameroon: Third Pass – Household Component Data Analysis Report

This report focuses on the results of the third1 pass of the household component of the study on the assessment of the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 on the living conditions of Populations. It is a question of (i) analysing the level of knowledge and behaviour of the (ii) assess the impact of the pandemic on employment and income, and (iii) measure households’ access to basic services and compliance with the barrier measures decreed by the Government and the WHO. In addition, other themes such as food insecurity and household shocks are also discussed. The data collection for this third pass was carried out over the period from March 25 to 25 April 2022. A sample of 1,411 households was successfully surveyed. The use of the data revealed that almost all heads of household 99.4% of respondents have already heard of COVID-19. The percentage of those of them who think it is a dangerous disease has risen from 80% in February to 90% in July 2021 to stand at 85.2% in April 2022. In addition, 5.7% of heads of household are in favour that all the barrier measures mentioned contribute to the fight against COVID-192. This percentage, which is lower than that obtained on the first pass, reflects the fact that some households believe that non-compliance with some of these measures hardly exposes you to the risk of contracting the coronavirus. As regards the assessment of the government response, the percentage of heads of households satisfied with the measures taken to curb the pandemic has increased, from 77.3% in February to 83.7% in July 2021 and then to 87.4% in April 2022.
