The Western Region, which is headed by a Governor, has eight (08) Departments and 40 Districts.
The vast majority of Senators in the Western Region are men (80%) compared to 20% women.
In addition, in 2021 we have 54% of male deputies. The West has 40 mayors, 87.5% of whom are men. There are 1216 municipal councillors, of whom 75% are male and 25% female.
The number of traditional chiefdoms distributed in all the departments of the Region in 2021 was 11 for 1st degree chiefdoms, 116 2nd degree chiefdoms and 1309 3rd degree chiefdoms.
